A full bodied wine pleases with deep red color, filling the nose with pleasing aromatics of dark fruit and roses. It enlivens & refreshes the mouth with fun & serious fullness.
The deep color shows the Malbec grapes with its blueberry nuances. Syrah provides complexity with a pleasant aromatic fruit aroma and a slight scent of white pepper. The addition of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay assist in gaining sufficient sugar, as the Malbec & Syrah ripen quite late with low sugars. Beyond helping the structure, the Pinot Noir imparts a note of the sensual mouth feel, uniquely its own, it’s velvet glove.
A rich, red wine of moderate alcohol that allows for dancing after the meal.
All of these grapes are harvested on the same day(s) and fermented together, aged in neutral French oak.
The southwest section (field) of the vineyard is called San Crispin Field. The vertical curtained trellis is orientated north/ south. The four acres to the west grow Pinot Noir, the two rock ridden acres to the east provide the source of this Field Blend. Vines are closely planted, hand tended & harvested.
Vintage dated FIELD BLND is only available in exceptional vintages.
